The beauty of nature inspires my paintings – from the Blue Ridge Mountains and their ever-changing flora to the sunsets on the parkway and the blooming flowers that surround us. I try to capture a realistic look with a gentle softness that we feel in the natural world. You can find more of my work on Instagram.
I have always had an interest in art, which grew during travels with my late husband. We often brought treasures back to our Chicagoland home from near and far, even shipping pieces from overseas, which required interesting pick-ups at O’Hare customs. Life continued to roll along with two children, a fulfilling career in the healthcare non-profit arena but little time to pursue my interest in art and painting in particular. After my youngest went off to college, I decided it was time to make a move…somewhere where nature invites you outdoors year-round and a place with a thriving arts community. The natural beauty of Western North Carolina called to me and I answered. Moving to Asheville continues to provide all the inspiration I could imagine.
Since relocating in 2016, I have been fortunate to meet and be mentored by some incredible artists (Patricia Cotterill, Carol Armstrong – just to name a few) who have not only welcomed me but encouraged me to secure studio space in the RAD and show my work. I focus on oil paintings of places, things and creatures. I am honored that friends and strangers alike have commissioned me to paint their beloved furry companions and my work is displayed in private homes from California to New York and in my home state of Texas.
You can often find me painting away in my happy place at Riverside Studios. I am a member of the Biltmore Lake Artists, the Sand Hill Artists Collective and the River Arts District Artists. I encourage everyone to come visit me in the RAD.
