In a time when technology is so present in our lives, where sending a text message or writing an email is fast and convenient, the fact is, when I receive something handwritten it’s the first piece of mail I open. Thank-you notes, acknowledgments of life cycle events, baby announcements, and invitations of all kinds have been a passion, pastime, and are now a full-service communications business. These are the most important times in each of our lives, and I feel it’s a privilege that my many clients allow me to play an integral role in their successes and special occasions.

My husband and I moved to Asheville two years ago from Philadelphia to enjoy the outdoors and a less hectic lifestyle. Hikes and running are where I find my inspiration for the leaves and florals found in many of my cards. Our fur babies come with us, Ozzie and Fiona, both rescue dogs, and each with lots of energy with their individual DNAs of part border collie and part lab. This liveliness extends into my commissioned pet portraits, where the personalities of other furry friends come alive, though digitally drawn and painted from photos.

I have a bachelor’s degree in fine arts, with a concentration in illustration, from The School of Visual Arts in New York City. In 2016, I founded De Papel Studio, a small business dedicated to greeting cards, pet portraits, and wedding stationery design. De Papel means “Made of Paper” in Spanish, my native language as a Peruvian, and my customers appreciate that my cards and invitations are available in different languages.
